Twins Sonja and Senta are infertile. The young women, however, dream of large families and agree with their respective husbands that there is plenty of room in their nests for lots of children. After endless adoption marathons, ten children finally find their way to the two couples. But each one of them has his or her own harrowing background: crime, drugs, prostitution, baby hatch and the threat of deportation and circumcision. This is not an ideal world, and yet tender care and affection and the firm belief in the good of human nature are what Sonja and Senta give their children.
